The Studierendenwerk finances its services through
- its own revenues (e.g. service charges from dining halls/cafeterias, residential facilities)
- social fees paid by students
- and grants from the state of Rhineland-Palatinate.

The Studierendenwerk is governed by two bodies, the administrative board and the managing director. The Managing Director is responsible for day-to-day business and represents the Studierendenwerk externally.
The Administrative Board advises and decides on all matters of fundamental importance.
