Food and Beverages - Cage-free Mensa

Neither whole eggs nor liquid egg from cage system housing is used in our Mensa and cafeterias. Because “ready-to-eat” products (cake, biscuits, chocolate bars etc.) are still very difficult to check, we do not include these in this rule.

When we switched to being a “cage-free Mensa”, it was essential for us that switching to free range eggs would not present a higher risk of food poisoning (salmonella etc.). Thanks to their use of pasteurisation, the suppliers of the free range products are able to give us the same guarantees as the suppliers of products from cage system housing.

Refusing to use eggs from cage system housing makes a considerable contribution to animal protection.
