Finances - Free meals

Free meals (in the Mensa) can be provided to needy students whose social situation justifies it, if this is included in the budget. In order for free meals to be provided, the student must prove that he/she has at least 20 performance points (on average) for each course semester completed in his/her current degree programme. Students in the first course semester do not need to provide this proof. In addition, the student’s income may not exceed the relevant top BAföG rate minus the value of the free meals provided per month.

Free meals are not provided as a cash benefit. Instead, the benefit is charged onto the chip card. Any amount not used cannot be paid out in cash later.
The credit provided becomes void when the person no longer has student status.
